New digital newspaper ‘Repórter do Solar’ is on air

Today, May 2nd, ‘Repórter do Solar’, the new digital newspaper of Solar Meninos de Luz, was launched. The content is written and delivered by Solar children with auxiliaries and teachers support. The newspaper will be published monthly and is developed weekly during a journalism workshop.

This project idea came up from the writing teachers Cybelle de Abreu and Helena Faria with the objective to give the pupils the opportunity to apply their learnings from classes and, at the same time, propose a free and interesting content for the community.

Twelve students joined the project and are responsible for 3 newspaper editorials: reports, journalistic columns and art. These editorials include cartoons, poems, comics and contents about solidarity work, sciences, interviews, education and Solar numbers.

Workshops began on the first Friday of March, It happens every week and lasts an hour. Despite the publication is monthly, it exist a desire to make it fortnightly. The project will last until the end of the school year and will continue in the coming years.
