Arte Entre 4 Linhas in Solar Art Gallery

07/12/2017

Closing the activities of 2017, Solar Art Gallery promotes, from December 7 on, the exhibition Arte Entre 4 Linhas (Art Between 4 Lines), by the artist Felipe Barbosa. The spectator will be presented to new configurations of an iconic symbol of Brazilian sport: the soccer ball.

Faced with a review of the three-dimensional soccer ball, open (not stitched) and agglomerated (again stitched), the artist reveals aspects such as the mathematics behind leather hexagons in arrangements, combinations, and even fractal formulations. His production creates a dialogue between mathematical games and art, subverting the meaning of objects between geometric shapes and signs.

Connecting sport world to art world, Barbosa already got to use the equivalent of 300 balls in a unique creation. Singular, now also uses paintings stamped by various types of sport balls – basketball, soccer, volleyball, polo-aquatic – to highlight a new chromatic color.

“As for Sufis and Pythagoreans, I believe that the numbers and their symmetries represent the stages of creation, so I try to play with the abstract and create a new world of possibilities with my art,” says the artist.
