Two students selected for exchange in the USA

13/06/2018

Beginning on June 23, Felipe Magalhães and Thais Custodio, students from 9th year of Elementary School II, will participate in the Brayce Program exchange program in Connecticut, USA, with all expenses paid.

Felipe and Thais, who will participate of an exchange for the first time, will join the Hazen YMCA Camp Program in Chester. They will participate, for two weeks, in outdoor, seashore, sports, creative arts and drama activities. Each camper creates their own schedule according to the activities they wish to participate in.

The program recruits young students from communities with strong English language skills, infectious personality, good sense of humor, enthusiasm, sense of adventure, experience working with children and involvement in social projects. There, these young people learn new skills like self-confidence, independence and leadership. They undergo extraordinary life-changing experiences, make new friendships in various parts of the world, and gain more fluency in their English.

After the camp, both students will spend a week at an American family home, also in Connecticut. There, they can experience different styles of education, traditions, customs and culture, and further enhance their skills in English language.

Students were selected for interchange according to their overall performance at school (grades, participation and classroom collaboration) as well as their performance in English classes. It is essential to already have a good level of English.

This opportunity will only be possible thanks to the partners EduMais, which is financing Thais’s exchange, and Brayce Program, which is financing Felipe’s exchange.

Solar thanks immensely for all who made this possible and congratulate the students Felipe and Thais! We are very proud!
